Greater Portland Babe Ruth Suspends Season

UpdatedFriday May 1, 2020 byMichael Rutherford.

The State of Maine has not set a date on when baseball can resume in Maine.  At minimum the League would need at least a month to organize the teams, order uniforms, buy insurance, etc.  Unlike the "wood bat" league, this league just get jump start in a week.  We are hopeful that the Governor gives her permission for baseball to start in June, and if she does, the wood bat league is going to add teams.  There will be an A team (varsity with seniors), a B team (J.V.) and a C team (14-15 year olds). Most teams in the wood bat are looking to put in 3 teams.  They would play 3-4 games a week.  Mike D'andrea (owner of the Edge Academy) and I have talked of organizing a league for 13 and 14 year olds.  So, if we can start in June, we are doing to do everything possible to have a place for all kids to play baseball!  Please email or call me if you have any questions.
