Phoenix Welding Upsets a "Winship-less" Gribbs!

Updated Thursday June 13, 2019 by Michael Rutherford.

With Coach Winship at St. Joe's accepting his Tostito's Coach of the Year Award, Gribbs fell to the Welders of Westbrook 5-4.  Phoenix Welding evened their record at 1-1, Gribbs fell to 3-1.  Gribbs came out flat, looked like an army without its General.  In the 5th inning, the asst. coaches took their lap top out and "face-timed" Winship.  All the players gathered around the computer and got a pep talk from their coach.  It worked, Gribbs took the lead, but could not sustain the emotion and lost the lead and the game.  One player was quoted, "seeing our coach on the computer got us going, but it just wasn't the same...we knew he had to accept the Coach of the Year award, but we really missed him today...he is worth at least 5 runs."

Coco Coleman went the distance for Miss Portland Diner as the Diner held off a pesky Falmouth team, 4-3 in a game held under the lights at Legion Field.  CF Carter Page made 3 dazzling plays to keep Falmouth from winning the game!  MPD is now 2-2, while Falmouth fell to 1-2.

Dom Tracy pitched a 3 hitter as Yankee Ford got its first win of the year, a 8-3 victory over Salvage BBQ.  Both teams are now 1-2.
